Tenma Soldering Station and SMD Preheater on sale!

I don't even know what the pre-heater is used for.Anyone care to fill me in?

That would be pretty cool to have a hot air rework station. The only thing I would have immediate use for is removing the SMT caps on the Konami audio chip.

I was actually gonna post about this the other day... the preheater is AWESOME. I use mine quite a bit, and actually, it's on sale for $45 if you use code EMC307. I picked mine up last year when it went on sale for $40, and it's been well worth it.

The little magnetic PCB holders are kinda weak, and of course only hold small boards, so I'd recommend using it with a better PCB holder... I personally use a Panavise, like: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/106-280 , but even something homemade would work fine.

Do you have a hot air station you use with your preheater?

Yeah, I have an Aoyue 908... I'm not sure if they sell that exact model anymore (it's probably 5 or so years old), but I know they still make stations that are pretty much equivalent.
