anybody have and use the 72-2070 tester? I picked one up on ebay a few weeks ago but can't seem to get a stable pattern. I had to make my own cable. if i hook up my wg1995 with a db15 cable to it I get a stable pattern and I can switch through the different resolutions but hooking up to the regular arcade style connector I cant get a stable picture
and is gripes about no signal, but I can see a unstable cross hatch in the background.

book says it can do 15.7khz CGA on the digital DB9

Try different combos of sync connections - sometimes monitors want both syncs connected together, and also find out of if you're using negative or positive sync - some monitors are one or the other (or both).

the digital DB-9 is as follows
CGA EGA
1-gnd gnd
2-gnd INT
3-Red RED
4-Green Green
5-Blue Blue
6-INT INT
7-HIZ INT
8 +HS +HS
9 +VS +VS

You probably want to use the 9 pin ANALOG output connector.

tried that too, I just switched it back from the digital DB9 and tried it again. double checked the pin out...still looks like a sync problem. if I hook both syncs up i get over range error.

should have gotten the one you recommended but I saw this one for 15 bucks and took a chance. works great on the db15 on the same monitor wg1995.
