Tempest with the Amplifone is pretty sweet. The linearity is not perfect but close. The game plays really smooth. I used some Amplifone brackets from a Star Wars game to make it look factory. There is just enough clearance for the back door.

I've got a digital SLR and on my manual setting, I've got it set up to take decent monitor shots. Maybe not quite as good as that, but still pretty good, as long as I can get it focused properly (hard to do on games with a mostly black screen)

aside from the picture looking better, the inside of the cab looks a lot cleaner with the amp. in it rather than a 6100.

I don't know squat about taking pictures, I just get lucky. I never even read the manual. The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 that i got at Sears for around $300. Here are a couple more shots. I neatened up the cables a tiny bit. Don't forget that you have to disable the pin cushion correction circuit on the motherboard if you put an Amplifone in your Tempest. The line you can make out on the lower right side of the screen shot is a scratch in the smoked glass.

whats with the gold colored heat sinks mounted to heatsink on the HV cage? Is that an upgrade mod? Is that something to do with the white flyback?

Those are high wattage resistors that come encased in a heat sink, he upgraded to them and mounted them on the heat sink.

Tronic is right. This gets them away from the circuit board. Most of the HV boards I have seen are burned from those resistors. It has nothing to do with the flyback. If anyone wants their HV board rebuilt/upgraded send me a pm.

Yeah, like I did:

But I like the TO-220 housed power resistor mode even better....

The Amplifone looks BEAUTIFUL on Tempest. I think every 6100 should be replaced with Amplifones ;)

I think the TO-220 looks better but I think this is easier to install and once these are mounted to the heat sink they are sturdier. I also have to give Level42 credit , I got this idea from him.
