So my Tempest restore I have the power good with an AR build and the PCB repaired so the game plays blind. I did a cap kit with transistors from Bob Roberts and a LV6100 update.

Now all I get is a small dot in the middle of screen. If I turn up the screen it just becomes a bigger dot. I have attached a picture. Any ideas on where to start. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359687759.406405.jpg

Spotkiller on?

No Spot killer. That is the puzzling part. I am suspecting something I did wrong with the installation of the LV2000 or the transistors. The picture is just not being deflected.

Interesting. Game playing blind? I'm wondering if the monitor is working and the PCB just isn't giving it signal. Swap it out if you have a spare.

That is what I thought. It didn't play blind before I had the PCB fixed. After it was fixed it was tested in another machine and it works. It didn't even play blind before the PCB was fixed.

I am going to check the voltage on the lv2000 later today. Do you think if the voltage is off on the lv200 it would cause no deflection or very little deflection?

Yes, definitely. Check your voltages there. From the manual:

The output voltages from the low-voltage power supply should be as follows:

J101 pin 2: ground
J101 pin 3: +27.8 volts
J101 pin 4: -27.7 volts

In general, I strongly recommend reading the whole 6100 monitor manual and the color vector FAQ and guide. The manuals for 1980s monitors are usually very explanatory, with lengthy descriptions of the different circuits.

Update: Tempest is fully working (at least for now :)

PCB fixed
Power supply rebuilt
6100 new cap and transistors
LV2100 mod. Had ceramic resisters replaced.

Now fully working and FINALLY able to play some Tempest!
