I'm working on a Tempest with a board issue. I've verified the math board and interconnect cable are good. The issue with the board is there is video present in test mode, but not in game mode. The screen in test mode doesn't show any errors although the knob control read out is not a number as it should be. Instead it is a straight line and if I turn the knob the line move somewhat like a clock. See attached pic. Switching from test to game mode I can see a game picture that is mostly correct with a few random/stretched vectors. The spot killer kicks on quickly and I can only see the pic in game mode for maybe a second.

Any suggestions on what to look at?

The spinner showing the spinning graphic instead of a hex number is normal, and due to you having the newer v3 ROMs.

Can you cycle through the other test mode screens, using the slam switch?

As for the other issues, it could be anything, and is hard to narrow down further with the info given. You'll need it looked at by someone with the appropriate tools to diagnose it further.

Ah, I did not know the test screen changes in version three.

To your question, I am able to cycle through the test menu with the slam switch.

Interesting problem. Just thinking aloud...if test code is executing (but no errors) it puts out an image but game code no image. I would check ROMs.

Also, see if you turn up brightness if you get image in game mode but don't leave it that way.

Hmmm. had to post because interested in how it gets solved.
