My Tempest currently has dark plexiglass that I want to replace with tinted tempered glass (the manual says glass is original). I don't know how close the tinting of the plexi is to the original glass.

Does anyone know what the tint code/description would be for a tempest glass?

much better off buying an original piece.. with as many Tempests as have been parted out, there should be plenty. Post a WTB

I need one too, but most people are not willing to ship. It would be nice if I could just go get one from a local glass shop.

You want Greylight 14 UNTEMPERED, so the edges are cut real clean and not rounded/beveled. Make sure you tell the glass shop that the glass will only be in your home, not in a commercial location or they may force you to buy tempered. I have some on order right now...

How much did this set you back?

Installed my new tempered glass over the weekend. WOW, so much better than the plexi that was there before!

I got the beveled edges, but polished, and you can't tell. Also chose to not have the tempered logo applied.

Just wondering why you say to ask for untempered?

By the way, I forgot to ask them not to put the tempered logo on the one I had made. The logo was small enough that I just put it in the lower right corner facing the monitor, and you can't even see it.

Mine cost about $80.

Seems high, but it really looks great. With the black cabinet, I really cannot see the bevel on the sides of the glass - the top and bottom edges are hidden.

Tempered will add about $30-40. My 18.5" x 16.5 " x 1/8" was just under $50. My glass shop showed me a tempered and an untempered piece of greylight 14. I did not like the rounded edges on the tempered, it really bothered me. Your glass shop may be different. It not as safe but I saved some $ and I got the look I really wanted and I got it delivered to my house for free!

Searched the forums before starting a new thread, so this one hath been resurrected.

Is this info correct? Greylight 14 @ 18.5" x 16.5 " x 1/8", tempered?

And what's my best chance at a good replacement bezel? WTB or getting Joey or someone to cut a new one?

Thanks.

Seriously? sounds like a moppet, NOT a Tempest.

Well I am currently negotiating for a Moppett, ironically enough.

Hey, I'd just woken up on a day off, got on the puter, drinking a Dr. Pepper and smoking a Winston, found this thread, and thought someone a few posts up had stated these as the dimensions for his Tempest UR glass. I wasn't thinking about it, just cutting and pasting. Shoot me.

what game those ARE NOT Tempest dimensions
thickness for Tinted Atari are 1/4" and most original clear bezels are 3/16"

like previously stated usally around $80 is about right for tinted/temp glass
I have a glass co across the street fromt the shop and offer many including tempest on my site
http://www.thisoldgame.com/categories/glass-and-plex

Is that tempered? Guranteed to appear original? And shipping is included for $100?
