Tempest to Quantum Cabaret Conversion

Looks like I'm committed to building one of these quantum cabarets as well. I just bought a blank pcb and a ton of components. I have a spare 6100 and power brick but am still on the lookout for a cabinet. Might use a centipede since they are cheaper and more common than Tempest.
I think the difference between Tempest and Centipede cabaret cabinets is the roof. The Tempest cabaret had an air ventilation system in the roof that the centipede cabarets do not have. I believe the plans are online for the Tempest cabaret so you could at least make the correct roof piece to replace the one in a Centipede cabinet (if you're worried about airflow for the 6100. It's only glue, staples and blocking that holds it on so it's easy enough to remove and replace.

Awesome! Might be easier to get a CPO made then, lol. I do have a Quantum repro harness if you need that, got it originally when I was planning on doing a scratch build. Also Toney Arrowood, @funtime1, had said on facebook that they were planning on doing a run of cabaret cabinets, so might wanna check with them.

There's also two vent holes in the fixed part of the back, but that's easy enough to cut out with a jigsaw. Personally I've put a fan at the back of my Tempest and this Quantum cabinet, on the right side when you're looking at it from the back. Just a 12V slim computer fan along with a separate 12V supply powered from the marquee light wiring. The tight clearance with the monitor kinda makes putting one at the top vent hole on the inside impractical, or at least when I test fit it I thought the airflow would pretty much be completely blocked by the 6100 frame.

Did get a reply back from TOG about the CPO from Kendra. They apparently have files for a Quantum Cabaret CPO/marquee/side art set they did a few years ago. However the CPO is based on the Centipede cabaret control panel layout and Kendra definitively told me they would not modify the CPO file. Bit of a bummer since I haven't been able to find anyone else with the Quantum files to modify but I'll keep looking. They did say they'd do the marquee for me though.

Keep in mind, Atari added multiple vents on the Tempest cabaret cabinet, for the K6100, that are not present on the Centipede cabaret cabinet. Heat is not a K6100's friend.

To be clear, there are four vents: one on the top, two across the upper back, and one in the backdoor). When using a K6100, I recommend all of those.

Found a spot that was local, or at least fairly local, to me that could laser cut my panel and Quantum is now fully playable!

I think I might have been able to put the ball a little further forward, but it's pretty close to as far forward as you can get it. I've attached a zip file with my CAD files if this comes up for anyone else.

So pretty much all that's left to do now is get a marquee/CPO, along with a new cardboard bezel. Haven't heard from TOG about the marquee in a bit so am gonna follow up.

On the CPO front, since TOG won't modify the file they have on hand it's looking more like I'm going to have to find a scan of the upright control panel, or get one scanned, as the other artists that I've contacted have said they didn't have a Quantum CPO to work with.
