Took me almost a year to work on this machine. I originally picked up the Tempest cabinet from Steve McDonald (fastmacr) in trade for a Tempest mini. Unfortunately this game needed tons of work, monitor had a bad HV section, bad deflection board, no video output on the board as well as lots of dings, scratches and holes in the cab. So after lots of internal work I had to remove the original art, bondo and sand the cabinet.
All the Major Havoc parts came from a game I purchased from Doug Titus in Florida. Had to fix the ARII, have the board fixed and replaced the marquee.

All I have to do now is fix the monitor orientation and ill be done:

If you woulda posted this in the restoration section, only I and one other guy would have noticed, so I applaud you for posting here in the General section. I am gonna start doing the same with all of my restorations. What's the point in posting if no one ever sees them?

...

hahahhah..
I only look in 4 sections: General, WTB, FS and Pinball. And pinball almost never :)

By the way, I was thinking of using blue or red t-molding, but I went with black (because I had a roll of it here)

I think either would have looked good, I'm partial to the light blue myself. Black looks good in this case though.

What a beautiful looking machine! Major Havoc is one of my all-time favorites. I really like your choice of black t-molding. I think it looks best because black is simply what most games came with back in the 80s.

Cool!! I'm getting ready to do the exact same thing, how difficult was the installation of the front art? That's the only thing that has me a little worried.

yeah that loooks great. Mine was converted a long time ago (I think) It has the all white sideart with the good major.

I may go with that stuff.

....

The front art was the hardest part. I had to align it on the left then cut on the right. Then once I put the t-molding back, it bubbled up some area's closest to the molding.. I eventually fixed it (after a few minutes). All in all it wasnt too hard. My biggest concern was placing the sideart cockeyed :)

I don't get it, was this game kit?

I'm lost on the fact that so many VAPs members list having a dedicated cabinet...yet I can't find a solid example of what one should be.

Looks good though.

Very top notch! Makes me really miss my Major Havoc (SD conversion with minty artwork). Very beautiful artwork, makes it look like a dedicated game. Somebody is probably going to flame me for this, but that conversion looks WAY better than the dedicated cabinets.

The dedicated version is short and more like a cabaret than a full size game. Its the same cabinet style as FireFox or Return of the Jedi. The Space Duel conversion also uses the spinner, not the green roller thingy.
