any body actually replce the plastic bushings in their tempest spinner? i have the bushings and the manual, but hesitant on attempting looks like a pain in the ass remaving those metal clips. it works fine just the infamous "brrrrrrr"should i wait till it gets worse or just tackle it? thoughts? comments?

I replaced mine. Can't remember exactly how much of a pain in the ass it was... so it must not have been that bad. The difference is staggering frankly...

i did in mine, and it's pretty easy. there's a screw holding the spinner shaft in, which you remove, and it'll come out, then the bushings go right in. the shaft is all you have to remove.

Mine had the "infamous 'brrrrrrr'" and I just took it apart, cleaned it, and added a little 3-in-1 oil and now it's smooth and noiseless.

Do it! You won't be sorry. It's really not that difficult. It will spin like crazy and increase your scores by getting rid of the brrr, especially if you lubricate the bushings as well.

Also, if you can get your hands on the Atari recommended Nyogel lubricant, use that too. I haven't tried 3-in-1 oil, since I was able to get the Nyogel. Do a search on these forums - someone here was selling it for a reasonable price. I got mine through another online source.

done and done. in a word wow! i had to adjust my playing. the blaster always overshot my target. were talking 15-18 revolutions per spin! the infinity board was a breeze, got to 240k no problem. thanks again and again-kerri

Where would someone go to purchase these bushings? Are they something that can be picked up at a hardware store or are they an Atari specific part?
