I have. Tempest cabinet, currently came running with a 1,000 mile rally type game in it. I have a request from a route location to put in a Tempest.
The cabinet comes came with a steering wheel CP. Does anyone have a populated Tempest Control Panel they would part with?

I'm planning to snag a vector monitor if I can find one and make the cabinet wired for both JAMMA and Tempest.

I don't have anything but the cabinet to start and the control panel is my first step.
Also interested in:
Board, vector monitor (located in CT or eastern NY preferred.

Huh? JAMMA and a color vector monitor?

I read it to mean he wants both harnesses installed so he can swap out the pcb and monitor to switch between them. But either way that's an unusual request.

@Deep6Arcade , can you share a picture from inside the machine? You may need a power supply and AR2 as well. Not to mention, Tempest has a fairly unique wiring harness, but you have a decent chance of buying one. FYI, a vector monitor may cost you around $1000 and the power bricks are around $250 if you are lucky. Maybe another $300 for a populated control panel. Those are rough estimates to give you an idea. Unfortunately I don't have them for sale.

Hey guys, well I had this odd idea that I would wire in tandem a complete tempest setup as well as keep the JAMMA current setup in the cabinet. Sort of like partitioning a hard drive. Make it capable ot both. Should Tempest go down, I could hot swap a JAMMA racing game back in there. But, after talking to a few people. I'm thinking it's just a better idea to buy a Tempest and run that completely on it's own.

Unique projects always peak my interest.

@dutchman I think you are probably right that the cost will be higher to do this setup than it would be to just buy a working or at least complete tempest.

Honestly, if it's going on location and you wanna also keep it Jamma, you could probably get one of the many multi-vector boards that are Jamma and then just use a regular CRT or even a compatible LCD. Finding a working and bulletproofed 6100 is gonna cost you some serious money (if you can even find one). Trying to keep that AND an original Tempest board running on location is going to be a nightmare as well.

I say good luck to you, but I don't think this will ever happen.

So here is where I'm at on this. The Alan-1 kit could keep the color vector running, but the price this is going to cost me is going to make the payoff not great.

I am going to check with PCB Junky to see if his JAMMA hat can support Tempest. If so, I think all I'll need is a populated control panel & Marquee, run a JAMMA HAT with a standard res monitor and see how it looks. I try to stay away from LCD, but if this is going to win me the route location, it could be worth sort of faking to win.

Still brings me back to the control panel need though.

You don't need anything from ALAN-1 if you have the original monitor boards. You can have them refurbished (or do it yourself) for less. There's nothing wrong with the original boards, they just need to be rebuilt.

However this is still an unwise project.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll only pursue this project if I can have it rented for most of what it will cost to get one. Otherwise, I'll just pull some other games off my stack and stick with them for now.

I have heard though that because the Tempest image expands beyond the screen size (Same with star wars) it will quickly blow the transistors due to over heating. I feel like that is why the Alan-1 parts exist.
