Would you say this an AR issue, a board issue or a big blue issue? I assume if the AR handles the audio as well as power, it probably needs a rebuild? I have the rebuild kit, just wonder if the AR is the likely culprit?

yup- start with that first. That AR board set gets super hot then blows resistors. I had to replace a few resistors on mine last month. Once replaced all was well again. Damn unit gets too hot.

Have done nothing yet. I was trying to put up a new HS and this just started happening on Saturday. I had to turn it off and attend to a crying kid, haven't looked at it since.

Ah, so this game *was* working, then quit. It's not just some game you just got, plugged in, and it doesn't work right.

Start by checking voltages. Check for ripple on the unregulated DC line (10.3v). Check the output of the AR-II as well. If there is ripple in the 10.5v line, then change the big blue. If that looks OK and the AR-II output is unstable, then go ahead and rebuild that. Honestly, either component (or both) could cause this problem, as could a flakey edge connector, etc.

Phet - those vectors have a tendency to start losing ground and eventually burn up (IIRC) R32 resistor. Clean the edge connectors of the PCB. When the issue happens measure the voltages at the harness. If your +5 can't be dialed up then replace big blue and rebuild the ARII board. BTW it never hurts to run an extra ground between the ARII - monitor frame and PCB.

The large edge connector is new, I just replaced it a month ago. I also reseated a few of the chips that had come loose from their sockets on the mainboard, cleaned the traces on the fingerboard, and had the monitor rebuilt and upgraded. The only 2 items I haven't really messed with (other than checking and setting the 5V) are the AR and the Big blue. I have a replacement big blue and an AR kit, I will probably just rebuild and replace those items since I have them on hand.
