Among the many reproduction controllers I've been working on, the Tempest spinner has received little attention with regard to my time as well as any updates. The little bit of time I spend on it on occasion seems to have added up. To date, I've completed the shaft, the flywheel and the flywheel cap. I just started on the encoder wheel, frame and knob.
I just noticed that the knob I am taking measurements from is a reproduction part made by an unknown source. The only reason I noticed is because it only has one set screw. I need to find an OEM knob, hopefully one that's NOS as well.
Anyhow, here are the parts I am working on right now in solidworks model form:
The frame is setup to utilize ball bearings instead of the original polymer sleeve bearings. No more BBBbbBbBuuuuurrr!! I wanted to get some real feedback from people on that idea. It wont' change the feel much, but the spinner will keep going far longer than it was ever meant to.
Has anyone ever applied a surface texture in solidworks? I'm looking for some help on that topic.
