I have recently rebuilt my ARII and PS with Bob Roberts kits (PS deluxe kit w/ big blue, rectifier and fuse block)

I also replaced the interconnect cable that was causing problems

Tempest was running fine for awhile and one day it went out like it did when I had problems with the interconnect cable. It glitched then either no response or both leds were lit, sometimes white noise from speaker and always the spot killer was on.

I was disgusted at it for awhile and didn't even pull it from the wall to look at it until last week (2 months later!) and found fuse F4 was blown. I replaced all the fuse when I rebuilt the PS, so I had a spare fuse, replaced it and it works again.

I then checked voltages on the ARII and PCB.

+5.2v on 5v check points and edge connector on PCB. That's good..

On the ARII... a different story. I didn't write down but I think I can remember close enough.

-24v dc on -15v test point
-14.4 on -10.3v test point
-24.5v on -22v test point
+24.4v on +22v test point

These are all for the 6100 right? Except the 10.3v maybe?

Why and what can I do about this?

Colors are bright and monitor looks great. Gameplay is fine too.

None of these voltages are used by the 6100.....it's all for the motherboard. These are , also, all unregulated voltages....so, they usually read higher than stated.

+22v looks good
-22v looks good
-10.3v should be a positive reading...+10.3....if you're actually getting +14.4v....that's fine
-15v test point.....Tempest doesn't have this.....so, I'm not for sure on this one.

When you replaced the fuse block and bridge....did you notice any of the wiring browning? Any of those quick connects burnt? These things are known to cook. I always solder the wires to the bridge's lugs. Those quick connects Atari used is a bad idea. Fuse F3 is also known to cook. I also solder those wires directly to the fuse block.

Blowing fuse F4 is odd. It's one of the inputs to the bridge.....it generally only blows when the bridge shorts.

Thanks..

I replaced all the crimp terminals. Nothing burnt now.

I know all too well about F3 cooking.. have seen those fuses glowing in a dark cabinet! Always burnt ends at fuse holder too.

Well, happy to hear I am ok with voltages. Thanks!
