Hello....

So my ever-troubling Tempest is once again giving me troubles.

Game was playing fine and just decided to quit.

Here's what I know:

No LEDs lite up on on the PCBs
LEDs are lit up on the LV2000 & the spot killer LED is steady on
Player 1 & Player 2 start buttons don't light up
Coin door slots light up
All fuses on the power supply check good

Repairs made over the last few years:

Monitor boards set to ArcadeCup for updates/ repairs (2010)
Game PCBs sent out to two different reputable repair people for updates/ repairs (2008)
Regulator board sent out to same repair people for updates/ repairs (2008)
Big blue cap replaced with one from Bob Roberts (2008)

Any suggestions on where to start checking things? Perhaps a flow chart?

Thanks everyone....

Ok, cool, I will check those components.

When checking/ testing, what values am I looking for? (or is it just flat-out burn marks or grey-charred components)

Sorry, I'm a bit of a novice when checking specific components.

Thanks guys....

The ARII board tests as 100% working.

The Tempest PCBs LEDs still will not light up.

Any other suggestions as to what I should check/ change next?

Thanks...!

Thanks for the suggestion...

The edge connector "pins" looks solid. No broken or damaged contact points. I did clean it with a pencil eraser and also a contact cleaner to no avail.

Any other components to check/ change?

Thanks~!

how was this test performed as I don't see any measured values here?

What were the actual values?

Where did you measure the values?

I actually sent the ARII board (boards, as I have two, one for a back-up) to Elektron Forge for updates/ repair work. The ARII board that was in the Tempest when it "died" checked 100% working/ good.

So I'm now at a loss as to what component/ area to be checking next....

Thanks...!
