Spent some time yesterday on my Tempest. Got the Bob Roberts rebuild kits for the PS, AR2, and 6100. Before rebuilding the PS & AR2, the game just made a nasty 60hz hum when turned on. Installed the kits (my first cap job) with some help from my dad, checked all the voltages, and fired it up, and it's now playing blind. It felt incredibly good to hear the game boot up and play.

Next up is the 6100. Looks like I have shorted chassis resistors and some blown fuses, but I'm just going to throw the whole repair kit at it.

This was my first machine, bought non-working over a year ago, and it's likely going to be playable soon. Hell. Yes.

Great job;

I hope it will take less than a year to B playing with video.

Tempest...

Yes definitely a great job. It's a great feeling bringing an long dead game back to life!

Suggestion when you work on the monitor: Besides the full cap kit, get an LV2000 kit. It will save a lot of issues later and prolong the life of the monitor.

Good luck & post pics of your progress! :0)
