Wondering if you guys can give me some help. Just aquire a long awaited grail and it has some issues. Been searching but seems best to ask. Want to know what I should do to bullet proof the monitor. Its WG 19K6101.

Also the board has a few issues. In test mode it shows a "P" Audio 1 pokey chip. The game does have some sounds missing or are low sounding. Need to know where to get a chip.

Also if you look at the video it shows missing parts of letters and lines....is that an adjustment on the X Y board??

Any and all info would be great !!
Thanks

PS mice are assholes...check out the nest and chewed up speaker........

I would not worry about missing parts of letters until after the monitor is rebuilt and you still have the problem.

I would:

1. Put in a Bob Roberts deluxe K6100 kit,
2. Totally rebuild the Ar-2 board and put in new tda-2002( sounds amp chips)
3. Replace all the fuses and fuse holder in the bottom of the game( Bob has a kit for that too and you can get the kit with the big blue cap)
4. Re-seat all chips on the motherboard. Re-solder the pins on the main pcb where the interconnect goes.
5. Check voltages at AR-2 board and then at motherboard and make sure you don't have more than a .5 voltage drop.

Do all that and see where you are at.

just my .02

Great advice.. Also, if you see ANY darkened pins in the edge connectors, or if it's flaky at all, get the split pins from Bob R and extract/clip/recrimp/replace the edge connector pins. You also might consider putting a fan on the monitor. You can get a small 12VDC fan and run it off of the AR2 board, although it would be better to get an AC fan.

Don't forget an LV2000 low voltage replacement. Saves a lot of issues down the line.

Definitely get the LV2000 and get it in there ASAP :) .

Also, Bob Roberts has the POKEY chips, but they are getting up there in price ($12.50). Arcadechips.com has them for a bit less at $8.

The missing letter segments could be CRT burn. Anyone that has a Tempest has some tube burn.

Ok just got my Bob roberts order. Gonna wait till I have everything before doing the job. So who has the LV2000 kit???

no real reason

No real reason other then for only a few dollars more you can adjust the voltages if needed. Just a personal preference.
