Tempest, no flippers??? Help

Your video doesn't work.

Thanks i fixed the youtube problem. So i worked on this Tempest for most of the day today and i am happy to have the Monitor up and going again. I still have no red, the high score and any of the lettering on the game that is in red is gone. The flippers are also red in the game and they are not showing either.

I reflowed the solder on the aux board connectors and it was working for a while so now i am suspecting it's a lose wire on the wiring harness? I don't have a manual for my Tempest so i'll have to see if i can find one online.

Let me know if you have any idea what's wrong with the game,

thx,

Are you missing red on both monitors (looks like you're using an original and LCD)? I think you're on the right track, probably a loose connection somewhere, especially if it comes and goes. Try wiggling each connector and see if the red comes back.

You might want to try to remove the main board and clean the edge connector as well with some light cleaner (windex) and some fine steel wool for good measure.

Put it in test mode via the coin door switch and see if one your eproms is bad. If you have the back door sheet there is an error code listing.

Yes I am missing the red only on all the monitors. I cleaned up the edge connector with an eraser and checked the wires again on the edge connector and aux board connector. The red came back and it worked for which but has gone down again. I'll keep working at it here thx Anthony

Do you have someone helping you when you try moving/wiggling the main wiring harness? On my tempest which had a bad edge connector I had color issues at first much like you stated. Could be a bad pin in the edge connector for the red signal. If it is a bad pin and you can watch the monitor while wiggling the edge connector you should be able to see the problem come and go.

Is your guy yellow or green? If its yellow your red is working, but there is a problem with the tanker object. Its hard to tell the color watching on ipad.
If its green, then there is an issue in the red ircuit. Check a pin hasn't backed out of a molex and the edge connectors are making good contact.

Q2,3,4 control colors. Can you post a pic of the test screen with the color swatches (4th screen?)?

Just had time today to take a look at this again. Been working out of town all month and leaving again tomorrow- but BINGO! This was it, the pin did in fact back out of the molex connector.

Thx to everyone for their help,
