Previous marquee (bottom) is not at all like the repro i just bought.

Can someone comment on the bottom one that i took off my machine? Was it an original, or a repro?

i believe the purple art is irish. forget where I read that though.

Because the repros are way too dark and look terrible?

Sorry, pet peev for me that one of the most collected games has such a piece of crap reproduction marquee and no one is interested in making a better one. I've still got an original with cracks in it because I think it looks better than the available repro.

Seriously though, the 'purple' version is pretty cool. Is your side art smooth, or does it have a fine texture to it? I recently saw an Irish Tempest cabinet for the first time, and was suprised that the side art had a texture to it kind of like really fine grit sandpaper.

I have never seen the bottom art before... I have two cabinets, both have the darker upper picture art.

Yes, the top repro is printed way too dark, with loss of detail on most of the area. This was the first time (in my not too long experience doing this) that i was shocked with how bad the repro was.

I'm ordering one from another supplier and i hope it is better - but they only print on demand so can't send me a picture.

My cabinet sides are smooth, except for blemishes.

My original marquee was taken by the guy that sold mine to me, and he replaced it with this older (torn up) original:

Then I bought a used one from another KLOVer cuz I heard bad things about the repro:

They look pretty close to the same color to me, though the second one's in better shape by far. I've never seen the purple version. I like it.

there could be hope.
I got one of the marquee films from Scott and hoping he can find the rest of them.
having the orginal films is the ONLY way to get all that detail
and the closest to the orginal color spec.

I'd be in for one as well ..even if I don't have a Tempest ..yet.

Richard - that would be a huge positive. and then I'd own 3 repros! hope it works out

Your just trying to keep me broke. Why is silkscreened repro artwork such a weakness for me.

Richard,

Might it be possible to get the Irish films? It'd be really cool to have the choice!

Amen to that. I just bought the repro and was terribly disappointed. Dark, muddy, just not good.

Maybe that's why the NOS one on ebay went for over $100.

I'd like to think a quality repro would be a gold mine for someone with the skills to do it.
