Tempest K6100 fuse F100 - monitor working without it??
I am having this problem with some Tempest screen jitter and it was suggested that I ensure the chassis mounted xsistors were sucurely mounted. After missing it on first inspection, I later noticed that one of them was indeed loose as all hell - Q102 I believe.
I found it loose by fiddling with it with the game off. The screws to tighten were hard to get to so I figured I would deal with it later. Well the next time I turned the game on, both F100 and F101 on the monitor blew right away.
So I figured I had shorted the loose Q when I had fiddled with it. I dealt with it and got the Q secured and ensured no shorts. But wouldn't ya know it, I had only 1 5A fuse in the toolbox. I thought...well put it in F101, power up, and at least make sure it doesn't blow.
Well everything works great with no fuse at all in F100. I thought maybe somebody had jumped it or something, but nope thank goodness nobody did that sort of hack. Why would the monitor work seemingly perfectly without that fuse?
