Hello Everyone,
Well, I got myself a Christmas present today.....Tempest! It's in decent shape, but is going to need some cosmetic work to get up to presentable shape. But there is a small problem on screen that I was wondering if anyone could help me with.
At a certain section of each level there is a part of the "playing area" where the lines do not intersect/connect evening. Please see pics of the screen. While it doesn't make the game unplayable, it would be nice to fix it. I don't know if this is a monitor issue or a board issue (or just some simple adjustment). Any advice is much appreciated!!
Thanks!

There are adjustment pots on the game pcb that will help you get your vectors aligned properly....

Almost fixed!

Thanks for the help guys! I was able to find both the Tempest manual & the Wells-Gardner monitor guide online which helped me greatly. With my wife's help (being my eyes on the screen) we were able to adjust x&y "BIP" pots that were outta wack and causing the problem.

The last issue left is that the whole screen appears to be slightly crooked in a clockwise direction. As before, nothing that messes w/ the game play, but would be nice to fix. After reading the manuals I can't see this kind of adjustment listed. Pictures are forthcoming.
Once again, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

sounds like you need to straighten out the "white square plastic thing" between the neck board and picture tube. Its mounted on the back of the picture tube and has a yellow handle/lever coming out one side that you loosen a couple turns so you can turn the "white square plastic thing" , then gently retighten it. Be careful !

Dude, thanks for your help Arc!! I was able to make the adjustment just like you said and got the pic perfect now. Your advice was right on!
Adjusting Tempest seems obvious to me now, but compaired to my other games it has been completely different. I'm an amateur about circuitry, tubes, or electronics in general (except what I've read on the net or through trial & error). Learning this is fun at times, but I think my wife is tired of the swear words coming from me as I do so! :)

Thanks again & take care!
