Nice condition Tempest. Cabinet is solid. Overall looks really good for original.

6100 monitor looks good. It has not been recapped or rebuilt. That said, I have gone through and reflowed all connectors and have replaced the frame transistors.

Game plays great and sounds great. No errors on self test.

$900 in Torrance CA.

Oh man... great price on this too... I wish I had space for this! GLWTS, free bump :)

There is still the Roadium just north of Torrance, but that is no longer a drive-in... just a dive outdoor junk market these days. There used to be a couple of others in Torrance, but they've been long gone. Still a great place to live, but definitely not what is was when I was a kid.

When did you leave? I've been here since '72.

I miss Torrance. Is the old drive-in flea market still there?

Damn, I need to get me a urinal in my arcade too. :001_sbiggrin:

What else do we see?
- another Tempest
- a Star Wars
- a cow skull
- some monitors
- a pair of tighty-whiteys?

GLWTS, nice Tempest. Everyone needs a Tempest in their collection. :)

Ha... you caught me. I thought everyone has a 1/4 bath in their arcade... right? Honestly, can't imagine life without a urinal at home. Best addition I made to the garage over the years. :)

And no, no tighty-whiteys... what do you think I am... 7?

:)

This is such a great game. I looked for this game even at that price for a while. Shocks me these don't sell faster.

Glwts

You live in the hoppy beer mecca of CA. I wish I wanted this just so I could come grab it and visit Monkish :D
Ah yes... Monkish is just a few miles from here... Easy to find... Just follow all the 20-somethings with their moustaches and knit beanies.

Great price for a working and looks to be all original and excellent Tempest. (Do the serial numbers on all of the parts match?)

I am surprised this is still here. The monitor alone is worth almost the asking price.

Original board and AR. I have the matching monitor and power block, but both need work. Swapped then out with my backups.

So it seems the SoCal market is saturated with Tempests. Had some initial interest, but nobody coming by to take a look. I can bring the price down to $900, but that's as far as I am willing to go. Otherwise I will just hold on I this for a while and gauge interest later.

Be on the lookout for a fully working k6100 and Tempest boardset in my next post... $650 for the monitor and $250 for the board... Ha, just kidding.

Others may feel differently, but I'd say it's worth fixing them, and keeping the serials together. Folks may not value this now, but I think in the future more will, if these games follow in the same path as other collectibles, where originality and preservation/provenance do add value.

For me, it adds something to the game to say the numbers all match, and the parts haven't been swapped around by ops over the years. (And fully matching games, especially Tempests, are really not very common.)

That cab looks in above average shape, plus the fact that the numbers were matching suggests it has an interesting story. Maybe partly/mostly home use, or at least was well cared for.

What numbers are on the coin counters?
