My Tempest starts freaking out after it has been played for a while. First the vectors start being drawn all weird and then it will reset.

I figured out that this problem will go away for quite a while if I press a little bit on the socketed chips on the main and aux boards, and they are quite crinkly sounding. The So I'm guessing it is oxidation on the metal contacts, unless it is just coincidence that the problem goes away when I do this.

What is the best way to deal with this? Should I desolder all the sockets and replace them? Doing that does not sound like fun, but I want to restore the boards to a completely stable state. I figured contact cleaner on the legs of the chips is the first step... but if I am going to need to replace sockets, I should probably do it at the same time I have everything pulled off the board.

Thanks!

Cold Solder joints on the connectors between the two boards. Reflow them and it should fix it.
