Just finished a full restoration and the only thing not working are the coin door lights. I measeured the blue lines in connector P40 and I'm not registering any voltage. P40 comes off the power brick through P5, before I remove the brink and see if there are any issues, are there any other things I'm missing.

Thanks
Greg

Tempest Coin Door light

Update : I checked continuity from the lights all the way back to the fuse block with no issues, so the only thing that makes sense is that the transformer is not putting out the proper voltage, is there anyway to check. Seems like it would be tough to get inside to measure the voltages, the top metal cover doesn't look like its removable.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Greg

Sounds like you have a wire off or a bad transformer. In 25 years I have not seen an Atari brick transformer go bad

I have the exact same problem on my Tempest. The coin slots won't light with known working bulbs and sockets. Not getting voltage to the lights.

Is this a common problem as I have the same thing?

New bulbs fitted but nothing. Bumping this thread for any advice anyone has on things to check.

A few things can cause this.

1. bad transformer (not likely, but it could be)
2. bad bulb socket
3. no continuity to the transformer (could be the molex plug, could be a blown fuse F6 4A SB 250v, or a break in the wires)
4. Bad bulbs, or wrong rating

The things I find 99% of the time are the fuse, and bad bulb sockets.

One more thing to check - Missing ground. Power doesn't work without ground.

Check 3 pin connector from the power harness to logic harness -- usually tie strapped to the power brick I think the 6.3 AC for the lights run through that connector for the coin door. It has orange and blue wires in it - if disconnected I don't think affects anything else.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I got it working not sure how though.

I pulled the plugs out of the PCB and monitor and the big plug off the power brick. I checked the AC voltages on pins 8 and 9 and got 6.3v so nothing wrong with the power. Next I checked the molex with the 3 wires and it was ok.
Next I checked the continuity between the 3 wire molex and the coin door light connector, it was ok.
I removed the bulb and ensured it had a good connection and powered up and both lights were lit - success!

Maybe it was checking the plugs that did it or maybe relocating the bulb but some good advice from you guys nevertheless.

Thanks
