Hi,

Leaving in 5 min. to pick up a TEMPEST cabaret that "works except for the picture" He tells me lights up and sound is good but no picture. He wants $100 for it. BIG questions

#1 ???good deal???
#2 Is the monitor repairable?

Anyone try the fix-it links to repair these Quadrascan monitors and have success?

THANKS!!

John

Where in NC? Sounds like a good deal to me.. but I have never repaired a monitor before.. so I have no idea what is involved.

Why are you even asking? Tempest cabaret is a great find for $100.

UUUUHHH because I don't know but I figured it would be. My only issue is the monitor. I just got back, it is serial # 218 and in great shape! I just plugged it in and have the "dot of death" on the screen, sound is good and crisp, but the light on the front is not working. I need to fix the deck so I have to put off further testing until later!

I am in the Raleigh area WMBA and you?

John

P.S. My collection now includes

MAKE TRAXX
Vanguard
Aqua Jaxx
Bionic Commando
TooB-in
Birdie King II in BK I cab
POPEYE

1 puck bowler, +8 PINS (7 EM and HULK ss)

and 1 VERY VERY VERY understanding WIFE ;)

I'm in the Winston Salem area. What Puck Bowler do you have? I have a 1954 Yankee Shuffle Alley by United. I love it.

Good luck with the Tempest! I hope to get a Vector game some day.

$100 for a Tempest cabaret? Damn that's a find! I'm insanely jealous... I'd love to have one of those sitting beside my Centipede.

This is a good deal. I live in north Raleigh and have a Tempest Cabaret that I have completely restored including rebuilding a couple of 6100s along the way. I may be able to help. PM me, if interested. Thanks.

Hi all,

I am done with the deck and wanted to look over the game before I post. The only things I found wrong is the florescent light dosen't work (tried new starter, ballast and bulb) and the monitor. all other lights (coin door) work and the sound is good. These are the best pix I have right now but you get the idea. I cleaned 1/2 of the control panel to see a before and after shot. Faux woodgrain on sides is great and T-moulding is intact and looks good. I found even some old movie stubs in the bottom. Hopefully I can get it working I LOVED this game growing up!

killer!

i just bought a tempest cabaret myself! paid $600 and it needs work...

the guy in wisconsin i got it from said it was in GREAT shape, so my buddy picked it up for me a couple of days ago (im in kentucky) and got it home, plugged it in - and in his words, it looks corrupted??? he said you can play the 1st screen and when you zoom down the middle after clearing and go to 2nd screen, it folds in on itself and gets all scrambled? his kids where very disappointed! anyway, he calls yesterday morning saying that it healed itself, and that it plays perfect? well, today is more of the same, not working?

the guy i bought it from has offered to go to my friends house and fix / troubleshoot it - he really thinks its a bad connection, and not something more serious! i thought that was pretty cool, him being a stranger and all - really nice guy! anyway, wish me luck, uhhhhg!

so $100 makes me sad (just kidding) i bet you can get it fixed no problem!
