I'm about to purchase a Tempest cabaret machine and was wondering if any of you could help me out with an approximate value? Here's how the machine is described:

"100% working, professionally maintained classic arcade game, excellent condition and very clean throughout and even includes the original cashbox & manuals. Plays great, bright crisp color monitor."

He's asking $750... Providing the description is accurate, does anyone have any idea what it might be worth?

Thanks for any feedback,

Andrew

Seems a bit high. It might be worth that, but if it was me I would feel better in the $500 range!!! Post pictures!!

I think it's a bit on the high side... but not horribly over priced. I mean, if it's in darn near perfect condition... the price fits. If the sides are all scratched up, or have been painted, or the cabinet has water damage, or the coin doors are scratched and rusty... then it's too high.

Here's some cell-phone pics he sent me...

I don't think he's out of line @ $750, but at the end of the day all that really matters is what you can afford.

that might be an original mini cab, but thats not the "regular/standard" upright cabinet.

so i would think its worth less. i wouldnt pay more than 350 ish for that. 650 for regular upright cab.

I have been watching Tempest over the last few months and it seems that this is one game immune to the economy. I prefer the standard upright but that machine looks nice and I think is worth $750....grant it you will probably not be able to easily sell it for that but would not blame you for paying that. Try to get it lower but in the end, a $100 should not prevent you from having a game you want. Offer $600 and hope to settle somewhere in between.

What gave you that idea, the thread title? ;) Show me where I can get that for $350, I'll buy 2...

i paid over 750 for mine. you get what you pay for...it's all original and everyone that sees it says it's a really nice machine!!!

Cabarets are a mixed bag. They're typically rarer than their UR and cocktail counterparts which you would think would make them more "collectible", but also most often do not come with side art and are not the ones most remember playing as a kid. Since I've got a 660 square foot 1 bedroom condo and am way upside down, they're perfect... :D

...

Tempest cabaret is much more rare than the upright, but without the art its a little less appealing to me (thats my personal opinion). I think $750 for a working one in good shape isnt crazy..

750.00 is more than fair. You have to remember, add 200.00 to 400.00 for real world prices, not cheap bastard klov prices.

Wow! Seeing th prices here makes me feel better about my restored Tempest cabaret (with Clay's muliti-tempest kit & WG6102 monitor). :)

The Temepst cabarets are certainly harder to find than the UR, but from my experience the Tempest cocktails are even harder to find.

BTW, the two buttons on the shown Tempest are wrong since they should be black, not red. Yes, I am being picky, but for $750 I can be!

I admit to being one of the cheap bastards. But I personally prefer the full-size machine with the side art. It's just personal preference but that just looks funny to me. I see full size ones sell here in Cali pretty regularly for $500....or at least advertised for that. There's one in San Jose right now in fact.

If it's in really nice shape, no swollen particle board, clean, etc.. $750 is fine. I realize people tend to lowball here and the price police come out, but.. that's a fair price, for a working Tempest. A working one will never be cheap, unless you really luck up. If the monitor and/or AR2 have been upgraded/capped, then that's very reasonable.

I'm far from a fan of minis, but certain ones, to me, look really good. Tempest is one, Centipede is another, and Battlezone is another.
