Tell me about Power Drive...

Don't have a clue on it, but one thing that sets me off on it is the title "NO RESERVE!". It is a freaking buy-it-now deal not an auction. You have "reserved" the price at your BIN price dumbass!

I owned one briefly. It's a rare game from the same era as Rampage and Xenophobe, and has basically the same style cab as Rampage.

I think the gameplay sucks, but little kids seem to like it. You just smack the slappers like crazy, and your 'monster truck' moves forward, runs over cars, pulls a load, etc. Sounds better than it is, we couldn't figure out if any strategy or skill was involved.

That all being said, there were a couple people who were desperate to obtain the cab, offering 2-300 for it, and mine was really shabby (but working). I guess it would look cool next to a couple other of the giant Midway cabs, or if you really liked monster trucks.

That one looks pretty good, but I always wonder when people post pictures and don't show the top and bottom of the game. I imagine giant broken corners where the picture ends. Coundn't they take 2 steps back and shoot the whole cab?

I played it BITD, but haven't seen any working since I started collecting in 98. It's a fun game that really doesn't require a lot of skill, just fast hands (a little like Track & Field). :) As it is, the soundtrack is addicting. :)

Track & Field with monster trucks. I bought a gutted one from an op as basis for a multi-game. I kept the original bezel and marquee and restored the cab itself. The boards, monitor and most of the other parts were already gone when I got it.

Its playable in MAME if you want to try it. I've never seen another cab other than mine.

I played this game a ton when I was in middle school and hanging out at the local bowling alley. I hadn't seen one since then until I played it at Funspot last year. Like a lot of games the memory is better than the actual game play. That being said, with three players the gameplay is much more heated and fun. Unfortunatly, like similar games it's not much fun unless you have three players. The comparison to Track and Field is apt. Depending on the race you may have to switch between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive several times and hit a wheelie button at just the right moment. All the while tapping the buttons as fast as you can to keep your speed up. The "wheel" buttons light up by the way. I thought that was a nice touch since the cabinets at the time were getting kind of generic.

Hmm.. I thought Power Drive was the one with the marquee that had the 2 girls in bikini's standing with a driver. What game am I thinking of?
