FF: Telequipment D54 Oscilloscope - powers up, but no trace - North Wales, PA
OK, it's an old analog scope but it's solid state, not tube based (the only tube is the CRT).
You get the manual and the scope. NO PROBES! (I'll need them for whatever I replace it with).
The last time I used this scope the trace disappeared while I was trying to get a probe on something, and I haven't been able to get it back since. The grid illumination works (and varies appropriately with the knob), and the 'on' lamp comes on, but no matter what I do to the controls or probes, there's no trace on the screen.
I did open it up and poked around a bit. No blown fuses that I can see, no smoked components, no bulging caps, no apparent burn marks on the transformer.
Original manual IS included, and DOES seem to have full schematics. I've no idea how hard it will be to fix. The scope is somewhere in the vicinity of 40 years old (manual copyright date of 1973), so good luck.
I've got enough broken gear around here that it's simply not possible for me to take time to fix this thing.
What I want is for someone to come to my house (I'm in North Wales, PA) and take this thing away. I'd like to give it to someone who wants to fix it, if possible. If you don't plan to fix it, please don't take it.
I've already scanned the manual, so if someone has an archive that should get the scan, I'll happily upload.
A bit of history on this guy:
Judging by the notes, stampings, etc on the manual, and the included paperwork, this scope was once used for incoming inspection by "Main St. Audiolab" in Carbondale, CO. It's CRT was last replaced in 1983, judging by the included paperwork. I suspect that's the folks I bought it from off of Ebay many moons ago.
Thanks!
