Tekken 5 Dedicated version of Sanwa 29es31 problems

Ok, I have a dedicated Tekken 5 cabinet. Namco fuzzed up the monitor setups in these, by wiring all wires through a 12 pin mate and lock, instead of the regular vga / matelock setup that is normally found in these monitors. The video still wires out to a VGA in the bottom of the cabinet, just not at the monitor like normal.

In the jst connector for the sync cables (on the chasis), there should be three wires. In mine, there is only one.....Pin #3. In every bit of documentation I could find, this shows VERT Sync. However, it is wired into pin 13 of the vga dsub (listed as HORI/Comp sync).

My goal was to wire a new Vga terminal at the monitor, because the current wiring will not render an image for Naomi's/PC's/CGA to VGA converters.

I bought a new jst connector with all three wires, Rewired JST pin #1 to Ground (dsub 6), Jst pin #2 to Vertical Sync (dsub #14), and placed Jst pin #3 back to Hori/Comp sync (dsub 13) like it was originally. Got all colors wired in properly, and the color ground on dusb pin #5. I ran all wires back through the magnetic shielding donut before soldering to the vga.

I fed in a cga to vga converter with a neo geo mvs attached, checked the signal on a PC lcd monitor (came out great picture), and then fed it into the new vga port. I set the vga converter to 640x480*, and the picture I get is best described like this.

"multiple copies of the image, all overlapping horizontally across the screen. currently like 4 copies of the image overlayed/staggered across the screen. Horizontal size/posi will adjust completely, but the image is slightly short vertically, and will not stretch to full screen on Max Vertical size. all colors are good, and game looks otherwise crisp."

I switched over to a strikers 1945 board, just in case it was the cga to vga converter not liking the MVS, and I get the same good result on the lcd test monitor, and the same bad result on the sanwa.

Micksimmons has done a succesful conversion of this cabinet, and said he just had to solder in a single wire, and didnt choose to install a new vga port. He will be commenting on this as soon as he can, but I thought I'd get some help/opinions in the meantime.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

***Update - Plugged Tekken 5 board back in, and Picture rolls vertically. Shorting out the dsub #14 VERT sync to ground causes this to stop, and a perfect clear picture is displayed.

Saved for pictures.

These are pics of what is happening with the monitor.

The last one is a picture of a "normal" Sanwa 29es31 monitor. Note the 3pin jst connector, and that it is colored
1-black
2-yellow
3-white

I pinned the vga adapter as listed in the previous post, using this as a number guide.
