Tekken 3 (converted NBA Jam)- volume control question

Hi,

I am trying to figure out the volume control. I replaced with a 25 ohm rheostat making sure to put back the 2 wires in the same spot, but this did not fix it.

How do I trouble shoot?

I do have a multi-meter that I just figured out how to make it buzz but not sure exactly how to use to test correctly.

Thanks,
Chris

Are you trying to control volume for Tekken 3 or NBA Jam? I am asking because a 25 ohm rheostat is almost nothing as far as resistance. For instance, NBA Jam uses a 50,000 ohm variable potentiometer for the sound pot.

Thanks,
I am trying to lower the volume on Tekken 3 which has a serial # sticker on the back which says it at one time an nba jam...

Also, how can I test to see if the wires connected to the volume control button in the coin door are even working?

Volume Issues Resolved...

Thanks for your help!

I learned how to turn the volume down through the game menu, control board, and how to install a volume control in the cabinet.

I will be adding external volume controls to each of the games so that players can adjust to their preference...

Also thinking of adding a headphone jack to the xxxx in 1 so I can play it loud late night and not wake up the kids!
