Picked one of these up today in a 2 player cabinet. I had no idea these even existed until I saw a screenshot of the title screen on the ad and saw HERO replaced NINJA. I pulled out the board and verified it is Konami.

It looks like it's from the UK? Anyone know anything about these? As an added bonus, it doesn't have the U.S. "Winners don't use drugs" screen! Any other changes?

please tell me your joking right.

The UK ROMs have it as Hero Turtles. I ran across this recently when I was converting a TMNT 4-player board to 2-player. There are multiple ROM sets floating around, but if you want to convert it, you want the 'Oceania' ROM set (which are for Asia/South Pacific/Australia, aka Oceania), and are the English set.

I believe I read that it was due to some copyright issue, but I forget where I saw that, so I can't quote it as gospel. I'm sure one of the other JAMMA/fighter guys here can clarify.

I got it so cheap I had to buy it! I've never had one of these Simpsons or TMNT, or X-Men whatever games before. I've always been a classics-only guy.

Okay. Here we go... Why Oceania ROMS?

They are the 'normal' English ROMs that I could find on all of the ROM sites, and appear to work fine.

I did find a mention of the existence of a USA set (see link below), but I wasn't able to find an actual file for them. If you can, that would be a better choice I'd say, but I wasn't able to, so I went with the Oceania ones (which is what others seemed to do as well, based on other posts I read), and I had no issues.

I can't speak to what/if there are any differences between the USA and Oceania sets, but the Oceania ones didn't appear to have any 'weird' things about them. (Maybe they don't have the 'Winners don't use drugs' screen?) I've since sold the board, but didn't recall seeing the drugs screen when I was testing the board out.

Thanks, pal! Good start to this little project. I may just keep the UK version unless someone can tell me any major differences between the ROM sets. I think it's cool to see HERO turtles. :)

I wonder if the UK art has Hero in it?
