Hi guys! My Robotron is slightly acting up! Everything plays perfect except that the fire down (right hand joystick) is stuck. The player is constantly firing down. All other movements are OK. I disconnected the control panel harness and the problem still exists.

I am assuming it is something to do with the interface board?? Is so, what chip may actually be bad?

UPDATE!! -- I disconnected and reconnected the interface board from the main board a few times and now the game is working 100%!! What do you think actually caused the problem??

the ribbon cable is bad. you just happened to bend it the right way. it will stop working again.

Read the update in the OP - seem bad connection between boards and reseating connector fix it.

LOL

yeah, I would lose the Up on my Defender. I chased the damn control panel harness around in circles... did happen to find a couple glitches there, but it was in the input ribbon. if you go in input test and bounce the ribbon cable around and hear bloop sounds, you have either a wire break or the ribbon is separating from the IDC pins in the plug. I have fixed them with a vise, and I've had them go right back the way they were after awhile too.

I get replacement cable sets from Quarter Arcade. this isn't the type of task you carry out with a shack bulb and a $10 iron. both the input and rom boards are incredibly fragile to work on.

if you want your stuff fully serviced to last awhile, I offer that. just drop me a PM.
