Tech: Rip Off vectors work but each is just a vertical line

Not sure how to explain this well so I took some video. It came out horrible though so I'll try again tomorrow. In the mean time, I just bought this Rip Off game and it works and can be played. But the each individual vector is a vertical line rather than angling in whatever direction it should go. When you put them together they still make up the little ships and such but aren't put together right. I wish the video was better....it's glowing so much that you can't really see what I mean well. And there's other stuff going on as well that you can see:

Here's the link: http://vimeo.com/32388709

There's also no sound but I haven't even checked to see if the volume is up yet.

Try swapping the two DACs on the monitor board around and see if the problem changes. Do you have another Cinematronics vector game around that you can use to test with?

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I wasn't sure if I should post this in the monitor section or the game section.

Nope, no spares. I don't have any other Cinematronics games any more.

Cripes....are those DACs soldered in? I was thinking they would be in sockets so that I could swap them without pulling the whole thing apart. That's actual work. :(

After you de-solder them, solder in sockets before you put them back in :D

On the last chassis I tried to rebuild, they were soldered. I imagine they all are that way.

so, your Ripoff is broken and your camera cannot focus :)

the video quality is too poor to make any sense of, but you wouldn't have a complete picture if there was a DAC issue. Your DACs are fine.

It's the analog switch (LF13331)

Awesome...I just got that same answer from Vectorlist as well so I'm going with that. I just ordered one from Arcadechips. Thanks for your help!

That seems to have fixed the monitor. Thanks guys! It was an easy fix.

Now I just have to figure out why there's no sound.

And why the game resets every once in a while while playing and takes me back to the attract screen.
