I went on a service call last night for a pinball machine, and the guy has a stun runner sitting there and says the sound isn't working on it. I mess with it a little bit, and if you turn the volume know all the way up you can hear the sounds faintly on it. I checked the volume pot with an ohm meter, and it appeared to be changing values, so I think it is ok. It did look a little crappy though, like it had been exposed to some moisture at one time.
I did a self test and it showed alot of failures for the chips on the sound board. He said he read somewhere that if you jumped two connections, it would perform a test. I didn't have a manaul with me, but i looked at the points that he said he jumped, and there was another set close by that were marked ground and + 5 volt. I told him if he jumped them, the board was probably toast.
I don't do much video game work, so any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I wonder if the amplifier is knocked out or something like that - I would think if you shorted the gnd to the 5 volts, you wouldn't get any sound at all.
Thanks to anyone that can help.
