Just got a routed Family Guy shipped to me yesterday. Hadn't noticed any problems with it, was playing it tonight and noticed that when I hold down the left or right flipper it omits an audiable buzz, every time you do this it sounds slightly different and is slightly more quiet or more loud.

What should I be doing? (and no Tomdotcom, giving you the game not the solution I'm looking for.)

My Rollercoaster Tycoon does the same thing since I've owned it. I've noticed it on other Stern pins as well. Not sure if it's a real problem or just the way they are. - Barry

Maybe I'll post a video, it's pretty loud. I have a Tron, it doesn't do it at all.

usually, flipper buzz can be the result of a bad coil stop and/or gunked up coil sleeve. I've heard some coil stops are magentized to reduce chatter, but can become demagnetized.

Assuming the coil stop is in good shape, flipper buzz can be greatly reduced (almost eliminated) by removing the coil stop bracket, put it in a vice and bend it so it leans more towards the coil.

It's the way Stern powers them. They seem to get worse with age.

I've found it helps a lot to remove the plunger and coil stop, and file the parts where they meet smooth.

LTG :)

I've just "reseated" my coils when buzzing ...take off the stop, put it back on, making sure the coil is absolutely straight...and it stops the buzz. None of my Sterns buzz anymore.

So I guess they get a little bit loose and rattle ever so slightly to make the buzz?

I think they just don't take care at the factory to put them on super straight - so just the slightest angle from coil stop to coil stop makes it buzz a bit...that's my theory!
