Kinda looking forward to this one. Too bad it's only 6 people, but I get why. Anyone up for some rounds of this in a couple days when it launches?

Mann vs. Machine is a new co-operative game for Team Fortress 2 that lets you and five friends wage a desperate battle to stop a lethal horde of robots from deploying a bomb in one of Mann Co.'s many strongholds. Take advantage of breaks between waves to upgrade your abilities and weapons. Survive all the waves in any of a variety of missions to earn incredible loot.

So is this supposed to be TF2's version of UT's Invasion?
Seems a bit strange, but I admit I'm intrigued.

Yeah. It looks like any sort of "defense" mode of any games like these. UT Invasion, the CoD Zombie levels, the final levels of all the L4D campaigns, L4D's survival mode, etc.

I'm thinking they may have been trying to gain a new audience with this. For example, my wife loves L4D and has tried TF2 but never really like the fully competitive nature of it. She likes the team aspect, but prefers full co-op like L4D. I told her about this and she wants to give it a shot.

I tried it today, fun, but pretty hard. On the pub server I finally got on, we played the same wave 10-11 times and never did beat it. Definitely a different skill set than typical TF2 PvP.

I heard some people saying it was difficult as hell. I assume they'll adjust it at some point. At least here's hoping they will. Though these survival modes in games these days are generally pretty damn hard when compared to the main game.

I would expect there to be a sever setting to adjust difficulty, or even a player vote option for it. In-fact I would consider it an oversight if there wasn't one.
