Anyone ever use any of those electronic labs? Are they a good tool for a beginner to learn? Any particular one you would recommend? Prices really varry $30 - $300.

i have the 200-in-1 from the 80s. it's geared for kids but it's a good start for electronics. the book that comes with the kit has 200 projects and it's hands on learning by connecting wires to little springs.

I had what we called an "Electric Chemistry Set". I never really learned much although we made some really cool projects.

I had the "160 in One" electronic projects kit as a kid in the 80's. I learned a lot from it, including how to read/write basic schematics.

When I went for my electronics degree back in 1994 we had this black briefcase looking thing by Elenco, looks like they still make them. We got it in kit form and our first project was putting them together.

I still have it and it still works, although for doing repair work I use bench style test equipment and power supplies. So this just sits collecting dust now.
