hello friends, I am having trouble aquiring these parts. Everytime I buy them the are fakes and I need some to complete some repairs. So far the ones I bought should be grounded on leg 5, they are grounded on leg 6 thus are usless. these are for u2000,u5000, k7400,k7500 models and a few others im sure. anyone know a good source for these?

I have gotten them from Suburban Electronics. Price $5.99. Here is the link to them; https://www.suburban-electronics.com. I bet Security0001 has them also.

Mouser Electronics is showing them as obsolete.

i usually do but as paul and i are finding out there isn't much available for trusted chips out there on these.

I just checked Suburban and they have at least 10. Acted like I was buying them and then canceled the order before having to pay.

I hear ya. It's getting harder to stock these parts nearly on a daily basis.
For Example: On-Semi used to have nearly every transistor type available but discontinued all TO-92 and many of the larger thru-hole transistors. This left Fairchild Semi to be the vendor of choice. Recently On-Semiconductor bought out Fairchild Semiconductor. This week - On-Semi sent out a multipage Last Time Buy notification covering a ton of Fairchild Semi parts.

What I hate are seeing the myriad of other vendors that happily and blissfully sell tons of parts that they bought real cheap from China. They sell them as new, genuine parts when half of them are are old used crap and other half is counterfeit.

So glad I'm retired and don't rely on the repairs anymore as income.

Gotta love supply and demand.

I haven't checked ebay lately, but the last time I grabbed any I purposefully bought some that were clearly used pulls with sanded tabs and tinned/formed leads. Since it was all that seemed to at least be legit parts, they were still worth grabbing for the price. Haven't had a problem with them.

As long if the price is appropriate, I'm fine with pulls if it's all I can seem to get, but resellers with a rep to keep can't really go that route. I imagine the "refurbished" pulls might even be running out/gone now that China isn't recycling our CRT sets any longer.

I've scrapped a couple hundred 19 & 25" sets for tube swaps and I've occasionally ran across them on chassis. There usually isn't much useful stuff to harvest on most, but I still grab the poly caps, relays and any regs or HOTs. STR3130s are actually somewhat common in Matsushita sets, but I don't recall which ones I've found 1771s in. If I remember to, I can chime back in the next time I find one.

alot of fake TDA1771 out there but you can test them with a meter and fakes all have continuity from the mounting tab to pin 6 and the real chips have continuity from the mounting tab to pin 5. test before installing any of them from any source because it will save you a headache. the refurbs i have seen only run about a 50% on average success rate but its pretty slim pickings.

This isn't true in my case. I've used about 10-12 of them and never had one fail. They're pulls, but original parts, so there is nothing about them related to their source that would specifically be prone to early failure. They're all ST, but every single one has different markings.

I've never had actual 1771 fakes, but it's not that hard to avoid them.
