When I played it at the guys house a few weeks ago I thought the jackpot display was working at that time. I may be wrong, but don't think so.

Anyway, the jackpot display and the 3/4 player displays are not currently lighting up.

No blown fuses that I could see, and as a matter of fact teh little light below the jackpot display is lit, just nothing going on with the actual value of points display.

All connections look good.
I did get a manual, so I guess I could do something I am not skilled at , and roll through that thing to see where everything is supposed to get power from huh?

I am a bit curious if the 3/4player point display and the jackpot are connected in some way, and someone may know off hand where to look first.

ok, the guy I got it from said, taht 3/4player display was working saturday.

so somewhere in transit the displays quit working I suppose.

I thought so too, but I didn't see any.

checked every fuse I could find as well (though it's possible I missed some) and they were all good.

you sure he didn't swap it out with a bum display right before you picked it up? i always test play games before i hand over the cash. even if i came out to look at it on a separate trip.

yeah anything is possible, but I don't think he would.
pretty cool guy.

I am really truly interestedin if someone knows if the jackpot display and the 3/4player display are connected in anyway. Or if they are two random failures.

just need a taxi expert to tell me if the jackpot display and player 3/4 scoring display's are connected directly. Leading to both of them being out right now.

2 seperate! I think there is a board that controls the bonus lights like Whirlwind etc! Mike Betz fixed the same issue with the Whirlwind I sold him. Get ahold of him he will be able to tell u exactly what to do to fix ur issues, I think you may need a new display from pinscore. Hope this helps.

I can check, but I'm thinking the jackpot display goes back via a ribbon cable to the dual 16-digit display board on mine.

well, someone told me that I need to pull the fuses to test them.

Apparently they can test as good if they are still in their fuse holder.
I shall try and see.

It does.

Here's my experience.

I got my taxi a few months ago and the 1/2 player line (the top one) didn't work. It's possible, but unlikely, that it didn't work at the auction. Also my jackpot display had some issues but this was due to some soldering on that board. I ordered the new set from Rottendog. They are cheaper than others I've found. When I got it the 16 digit worked great but the first digit on the jackpot board did not work. It took a couple of exchanges but it turned out there was an issue that Rottendog's test equipment didn't pick up on. He sent me another 7 digit one and I was in business. I can't say on the original displays (can't imagine it would be different) but on his, the 16 digit display drives the jackpot display. These things are old so it's possible that yours just died like mine did. The lights above & below the jackpot display are wired into the rest of the lighting. There's no connection to the display boards. I hope this helps.

sorry about your Taxi but after i seen this about fuse i did it to my Gorgar and now it works. Thank you...

LOL, I'm the one who told him that.... (And my Techie told ME that, haha)

Glad it worked for you above this post PacMan :p

AND KEEP US UPDATED ON THE STATUS OF EL' Taxi!!!

yeah so I guess I need to pull the displays maybe?

Does the 3/4player separate from the 1/2? looked like they were connected. cannot remember though.

may as well check for bad solder joints.

It wouldn't hurt. I think in my case, it just died. The entire display is one big board. Look closely at the long row of connections between the displays themselves and the board.

Reseat the socketed chips, maybe reflow the headers? If he didn't do a switcheroo, it shouldn't take too much to get it going again.

3/4 is a separate glass from 1/2, but like Yak said, they're on the same PCB. My 3/4 also doesn't work, but it looks like it's gassed. My jackpot is fine.

If you haven't had a look at the actual PCB yet, perhaps there are connectors you haven't been able to re-seat yet.
