Hi;
I have been working on a Megatouch that I just received and after giving up on the original boardset and swapping with a known good, was finally enjoying the game with my family when my son said, "I think something happened to the game!".
I raced over to see the display all red with the vertical retrace lines going through the display. I shut it down and rebooted it and during this, I received a couple of quick red flashes and the game worked for another few minutes and then went red again.
I looked through the troubleshooting guide and searched the forums and have come up with 2 possible causes.
1- cap bad (chassis should be capped anyway) and
2- bad IC on neck PCB.
I am going to pull the chassis for the cap job but was wondering if it possible the the flyback is also going, (because of the retrace lines), any opnions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Jeff

If it's going solid red a quick test would be to swap the red and green (or blue... whatever) drive transistors on the neck. If you swap red and green... and the screen starts going solid green... well, there you go.

That's where I would start.

Thanks for the suggestion but I cannot locate a manual or a set of schems for this baby, would you happen to have a link available?
I checked the Tatung web site but could not locate them there either.

As I could not find any info on my monitor, which is the Tatung model#VS20475T type 58, I pulled all the caps and made my own cap kit.

I did notice a couple of cracks on the HVT but before I pull it, as it is still working, as far as I know, I would like to get the replacement. I checked the usual places with no luck - any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.
Jeff
