Targets

Well thought about it, so I thought I would ask on this forum. Drop targets are fun though. My next pin I buy it will have to have a nice bank(s) of drop targets.

No, the area under the playfield wouldn't be set up to accommodate the extra space needed for a full drop target assembly. On top of that, you'd need to cut wider openings around the targets to change them from standing targets to drop targets. And the real nail in the coffin, the game wouldn't know to send a signal to reset the targets after they dropped. Standing targets are meant to be hit multiple times, drop targets are hit once and then drop until the game signals a reset.

The only game I know of where you can do that is Firepower. The drop targets were dropped (pun intended) at the last minute as a cost cutting measure. They can be added in place of the stand up targets with a little bit of creativity and (I think) a ROM swap.

Other than that everyone else covered it. The answer is no.

you can't blame him for trying though drop targets are a blast. I am counting down the days before I get my fireball II back from the guy who is doing a playfield swap. 11 drop targets mmmm

What game has the most? Target Alpha has 15 which is a lot. Sinbad is cool since it has 4,3,2,1 sets all spread out. I think Sinbad would be one of the few pins from the 70's I would welcome to my herd

Does this "Sinbad" have "Multi-ball"? I want the best of both worlds with drop targets and multi-ball. Got a picture of this "herd" of yours?

No Multiball on Sibad but a cool older SS pin

I don't have a pic of all my games (5) together, honestly I don't think I have ever had them in the same room yet I have a smallish house. Can't wait till I do my basement next year and can have a dedicated game room.

The two pins i own are Mars God of war (8 drop targets) and Fireball II (11 drop targets) both have 3 ball multiball. Lots of options on early 80's games to cover all all the things you seem to enjoy. I also like a game to have speech and pop bumpers, not so fused on ramps etc

There are plenty games from the early 80's with drop targets and multiball.

Off the top of my head, you should check out Black Knight, and Pacman. Grand Lizard has some drop banks and has multiball too.

Mr. & Mrs. Pac-Man is a single ball game but you're right... there are tons of games from the early to mid eighties with multi-ball and drop targets.

Sinbad is also a great game even without multi-ball.

There's one wit 16 or 19 but I can't remember which one it is.

Glennon

I love the drop targets on Data East's Simpsons game. They are well placed and the ones on the right side are a challenge to get at.

My Centaur has 12 drop targets divided into three banks, one of which you have to use a captive ball to hit. It also has 2, 3, 4, and 5 ball multiball.

Yeah, Taxi is similar. I've noticed that in both games that the center drop targets are far more difficult to knock down with direct shots than with the side targets.

I've owned Taxi and still have the DE Simpsons. Both great games, in my opinion.

I absolutely agree. I currently have both and have no plans to sell either.

That Centaur sounds amazing. Hey I have noticed on my HS with the still targets, when you hit them they seem to wobble back and forth( shake a bit) , dont know if it's normal or not but they have done that since I have owned the machine last November. Is it necessary to put a foam cushion behind each target? I dont know if there contact with metal or not when the target is hit. Wish this HS had some drop targets and at least 1 more feature in the game. It's a keeper though never gonna sell, I had played this pin at pool halls, arcades, bowling alleys, etc. When I was 15 years old when the came first came out. It was always a line to play (had to put your quarter up for next game), and always a crowd watching as well.

Well, they do have some movement built in so the switch can be closed when the target is hit. I'd ask on RGP about any breakage issues with your particular machine and the targets you are concerned about. It could be something as simple as adding a small support or replacing worn target housings.

Remember, if you put anything behind the targets you will affect the ball travel when it bounces off of those targets.

You can do it with Rollergames as well.
