My wife and I just got a Wii... which is completely out of character for me as the only consoles I own is an old Atari 2600 and a N64 that I got on Ebay so I could play Star Wars Pod Racer. We also get Target Terror with the Wii because we played it in the arcade and really enjoyed.

Now normally I don't care much for shooting games, and my wife only likes my Tempest and sometimes Ms Pac and Frogger... but she REALLY enjoys this shooting game.

So as my wife is shooting those little jogging suit-wearing hoodlums, I look at the credits on the game and find that the lead designer is none other than Eugene Jarvis...

No wonder we love this game...

Anybody else every played Target Terror? Love it? Hate it? Chime in y'all.

It is a game I really like as well. Have not played the Wii version.

Here is some more info about it - link.

Eugene Jarvis is the head of Raw Thrills - the company that made the game. :)

Eugene Jarvis has been the sole savior of the coin-op industry over the last 10 years. The only game that Raw Thrills has put out that sucked was NickToons Nitro. Every single other game they have put out so far has been a KILLER game and a great earner! GlobalVR has been putting out great games and Sega and Namco have been OK as well but if it wasnt for Mr Jarvis we would be deep in the dog stuff!

Target Terror is a very good shooter. We've got a few of them out in the wild and they all do very well.

My friend Luke worked at the company who made the Wii port you're talking about (the company's name is Leviathan; they shut down the branch he was working at fairly shortly after Target Terror). He said that in the original arcade version there are parts where a random enemy will pop up and you'll literally have no chance to kill him before he kills you (quarter munching bullshit, as I call it). He said, "So I said screw that crap" and made it so that you can kill every enemy. So maybe the Wii version is slightly better designed than the arcade version for that reason.

Also, yeah, Eugene Jarvis is frikkin awesome. I just wish he'd make something other than light gun shooters or drivers for once. Defender, Stargate, Robotron, Blaster, and Smash TV were all awesome games; I wish he'd go back to making games that are more unique. Jarvis really has a unique knack for good game design.

heh, I know one of the guys who worked on the port as well. I've been told that while Target Terror is a decent game, the programming behind it is atrocious, there were so many watchdogs on the linux machine since the game would always crash. lol. I think maybe one or two bugs got shipped in the Wii version, but they were really tiny rare bugs like if your on the home screen with 4 connected controllers playing a 2 player game and player 3 and 4 hit the home key at the same time itll crash. Something really bizarre like that.

Well considering Leviathan's short development cycle and their lack of dedicated testers, I'm sure that more bugs than that shipped; they just weren't detected internally.

havent tried target terror, Ghost squad is a cool shooter as well

We did get Ghost Squad recently, as well as House of the Dead 2 and 3 for Wii. We enjoy those games also.

Would be nice to get a dedicated Target Terror, but right now they seem to be making good money on route, so they are difficult to find cheap for a home gameroom.

My 15 son and I enjoy playing HOD 2&3 on the Wii so I will have to check out Target Terror & Ghost Squad based on this thread.

Kenny, is that you??? Are you Creepy???

Yes, check out TT and GS. Target Terror gets pretty struttery, especially at higher levels, but you can pick it up for $10 to $15 on Ebay so for that price, its good for a bunch of laughs.

GS is excellent!!!

Target: Terror is a great arcade game. The Wii port sucks.

Ghost Squad, House of the Dead 2&3, and House of the Dead: Overkill are excellent. Overkill is most definitely an adult game, not for the faint of heart.

Ken yes ( Creepy no, although the neighborhood kids thought I was in my Terminator mask ) .

There is a Target Terror: Gold in the local mall arcade. Its a great stress relieving game. There was also one at the bowling alley arcade where I used to work. It made almost as much money as the DDR.
