i recently acquired a bud tapper, just had a few questions for you TAPPER guys.....

- i really want to sand and repaint the DRINK CUP HOLDERS. anyone have the correct or closest paint match for this? has anyone used any other methods that worked good to give them that good ol' brass look.

-also, has anyone bought one of the brand new tapper FOOT RAILS that quarterarcade sells? im not sure if i'm just gonna clean up the old one i got or buy a repro'd one.

- i also had a idea of installing some gold t-molding on the game to give it that extra "bling, bling". i thought it might look good with the whole brass/bar thing. good idea or bad idea??

any help / info would be appreciated! chris

Try cleaning up the foot rail with "Brasso". Mine looked horrible when I got it, I was amazed at how shiny and clean it appeared after lots of scrubbing.

I was very pleased with the footrail from Quarter Arcade, I never did try cleaning up my original. Personally I would stick with the original black t-molding since it is a classic game.

Someone I know redid his in brass. I think the results were not that great. I think he returned them to be redone. PLu I thnk the cost was very high. But this was like 10 years ago.

If someone has had good results or know the costs feel free to post them. Frank who took his color tapper to the show repainted his and they look pretty good.

These were made from a shitty potmetal and will not look very good when recoated. I've tried it and went through the hassle of having someone replate mine and it looked so piss-poor that i ended up painting them in a hammer finish gold. If you look close at yours, you will see many pin holes that will not be filled when replated.

I'm going to try something different and have them powdercoated in a shiny gold/brass finish. The guy that does all my coating swears they will look beautiful and since he's gonna do it for free, i'm gonna let him try.

Don't spend the money on plating, you will most definitely be disappointed.

thanks guys for all the info. i might look into that hammer finish gold paint. if i dont go that route maybe i will try to re-brass them. still confused on WHAT the best method is. trial n error i guess. chris

I know I'm a little late to chime in, but Brasso is the best way to redo the footrail. Just watch out because that stuff will destroy everything except brass. What are those coasters worth? I got a bunch of them with my machine.

Hey, I've been a proud Budweiser Tapper owner for about 2 months now. I purchased my Tapper from Todd Tuckey and TNT Amusements. Todd had put gold T molding on my Tapper before I picked it up for the extra "bling bling". My wife joked that it had been on a new show "Pimp my Tapper". I have to say, I HATED it, the first thing I did after having a bit of a freak out from disappointment was order replacement black leather texture T molding. The Midway kickplate was also painted gold, I've since replace that also with a nice new black one.

I'm against the gold, but if you like it go for it. I like to see some artistic licence with these old games!!!

When I bought my TAPPER it had gold t-molding. The seller (Todd Tuckey) thought it looked great, I did not agree. The first thing I did when I got my TAPPER home was order new black t-molding.

I sanded, primed and painted mine with the rustoleum in the shiny gold cap.
