Well, I posted in the restoration forum about needing help with my Tapper marquee. It all started when the marquee light started to flicker. I took off the marquee to see what type of bulb it was and how easy it would be ti find one. Inside the marquee opening it was quite dirty so I took the marquee which was covered in a layer of dirt on the backside to the sink and ran it under the water, washed all the dirt off. Good right? WRONG!!! I was using hot water but it might have happened anyway, even with cold. The spot where the water was running caused the paint to start to flake and curl. now I have a hole right to the right of the Budweiser mug full contained in the whitish area. It doesn't enter any other colours. I ruined it. I'm sorry community, I shouldn't own this game, I'm slowly destroying a classic.

Any ideas for repair?

I was thinking of scoring around the beer mug and removing all of that colour of "stained glass. Than repainting that entire section. It won't look the same a stock, but I think I can make it look good.

Anyone have a Tapper marquee to sell?

Has anyone used a reproduction Tapper marquee? Who sells good ones, who sells bad one that should be avoided.

I need help here!!!

I recall reading a thread where someone put a Tron marquee in the bathtub to clean it, and ended up floating all of the artwork right off of the glass, then it just disintegrated. I like to imagine that it floated away like sparkles in a Disney film, but

Sorry, I'd just consider it ruined and move on. If it makes you feel any better, I imagine that a lot of Tapper marquees are faded or worse. Maybe this is something that should be reproduced, although I don't imagine it would be cheap. Mine is ok, but a little faded. My bezel has some lifting, but I think at least on the bezel, it uses mirrored inks, so $$$ or not getting done. Classic playfield repro is doing several backglasses that use mirrored inks, so maybe either they or Darin should repro it.

If anyone at all is buying the sideart package, then maybe there's enough interest in the marquee getting done.

My main artist who just went on maternity leave was about50% done with the art. So my intentions are there but delayed

OK, I need some input. I'm going to scrap off all the whitish paint inside that "stained glass" section not touching the beer mug of course. Then I'm going to repaint just that section with a craft paint meant for glass that looks like stained glass called "Gallery Glass".

Do you think the original is most like (Picture 1: Cameo Ivory) or (Picture 2: Snow White) or (Picture 3: White Pearl).

OK gang, so I'm going ahead with my repair plan and I've scrapped off all the paint in the one "stained glass" section. What do you think of the results? Now I've got to order some "Gallery Glass" stained glass paint off of eBay.
