I just got this Tank Battalion PCB off of Ebay and I've got a few questions:

- What are the locations of the ROMs and what size EPROMs does it use?

- Is this a bootleg?

- Has this been modded for a switching power supply? It looks like a lot of parts have been stripped and there are a few jumpers added.

- Is there a schematic available? The regular manual doesn't have it.

Kind of looks like mine but with different pinout and a second edge connector. See this post for a picture with numbered roms:

I think they are similar enough that the rom locations are the same. Your seems to be missing a lot of parts, dip switch, audio amp, etc.

Well I've replaced the dipswitch and MOS6502, does anyone know what it uses for EPROMs? (Edit: They're 2716) The fact that it's missing the amp doesn't scare me, if all else works then I'll worry about repopulating it.

Probably being a bootleg I wonder if it was ever populated? I've got a bootleg Time Pilot '84 that had been left bare and had an external amp stolen from a set of speakers hacked on it, fortunately being a 1:1 ripoff of the original all the correct traces were still there and populating them worked.

No idea on the EPROMs. The close up images of the PCB - those vias have never seen solder on those unpopulated parts. It wasn't uncommon for some vendors (Atari for example) to have unpopulated spots on the boards.

Yeah true, again I'll get it working then I'll figure out the sound, not being amplified shouldn't keep it from booting if all else is good.
