Talking pinball with high school kids tomorrow - topics?

A local high school has some pinball games for a couple weeks and the teacher asked me to come and talk to the class. She said they've watched bits and pieces of Tilt, SWL and Pinball 101 to learn about pinball. A tech is coming in next week to talk a little tech.

I plan to do some in-person flipper skill stuff, but as far as a short lecture, I'm trying to think of what I can add that isn't a rehash of the above.

Ideas that came to mind:

1) What the video game/pinball/arcade scene was like when I was their age (I'm 35 and I've been playing video games since I was 10).

2) Talk about a few weird pinball laws still on the books in Oakland and Salinas.

3) Talk about the current bay area scene - local tournaments, shows, where to play, etc.

Anybody got more?

What kind of class is it? The discussion points would be entirely different for a wood shop class compared to an economics class.

Hard to say. It's not a traditional high school, or at least, this part of the curriculum isn't typical. It's a three hour class where some sort of topic is introduced and then examined from all angles. In this case, the teacher had a local Op bring in like six pinball games. So topics range from history, to tech to playing, to culture.

tell the children if their family or friends of family has any unwanted games in the basement that they want to sell to please get on klov.com and contact woodrailsrus.

hahahahahahaaha

Tell the kids that arcades were the facebook of the '80's, except you had to leave your house. The graffiti carved into the cabs and written in the bathroom stalls was twitter!

the points that you listed are great areas to cover.and recruit future pin geeks.
you might also bring up the fact that the pins are still to this day made by hand right here in the usa.that is something you do not often hear of any more.
