So as you guys know I love Space Invaders. I am particularly fond of the original Taito versions. Midway did a great job, but the Taito cabinets were just beautifully built and the artwork rocked, plus they offered a cabaret.

I bought this Trimline from my friend's warehouse last year. It wasn't pretty, but was solid enough to work on. Plus it came with a copy of "How To Play Space Invaders: Secrets From An Expert".

It still has a ways to go, but thanks to a lot of help from Nerdtendo it is looking pretty sweet.

The cab also needed a serious scrubbing. XXX years of nicotine buildup acted almost like a preservative. Look at her shine.

GRIMEY I used an industrial degreaser.

Look at the yellow!

After cleaning up the cab I ordered up some new T Molding. It finally started to look like a complete game.

I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time when Nerdtendo listed his old CP for sale. Though it's not perfect it is waaay better than what I had.

My Favorite part of the Trimline is the front marquee light. Unfortunately mine was done broke so I had to rebuild it :)

I still need a coin door harness, innards and some board repair, but I feel like it has come a long way and was too close to being done not to share.

Major major thanks to Nerdtendo and all of the other KLOV'ers that helped me with this.

You need a new Instruction Card to go under the glass bezel. I have a spare one lying around. I will scan it for you and just print it out on card stock and you will be lookin' good. Send me you email address and give me a few days to get it scanned. I'll send it as an attachment and the attachment will be the exact dimensions of the card. It's not crisply bright white but it will fill the void.

Thanks! I actually have my old card and was going to scan it and print one this weekend.

Thanks again for all of your help. This would still be a naked little trimline if it wasn't for you.

Also, in case you didn't know, I was just notified of where to get the parts to rebuild the joystick. It says that it is a Williams Kit but I was told that the other member (his user ID is slipping my mind right now) tried it on his SI TrimLine and it is a direct fit drop-in replacement rebuild kit. It's at ArcadeShop.com and here is the link showing the pic...

I'll be getting a couple of these when I have the extra $$$

That's totally makes sense! After I sell a kidney or my first born I may grab one or two. Holy pricey, but I am sure well worth it.

Any of you guys have suggestions for what to do around the bottom where the siding/vinyl is funked up?

Unless you are wanting to bondo and re-vinyl I just used corner protectors to cover the damage and prevent any more from occurring. I also used one of the replacement Midway 6x9 speaker grills for the broken speaker slots. It made mine look amazing. I am going to give my Polaris TrimLine the same treatment when I have the funds.

The world would be a much more boring place without Taito!
This is the first of these I have seen...the artwork is beautiful in it's simplicity...Your restoration is looking awesome :D

I was at local413's garage today AKA the Taito Museum and I was checking out his Frontline and and its instruction card. The card had a black background and the lettering was color matched to the stripes on the bezel. I am tempted to try something similar on the Trimline. I hate the plain white instruction card with black lettering.

Looking good. Those trimlines are a really attractive mini.

If it helps you at all, that coindoor appears to share the same type of hardware used on early 80's Atari and Williams games. Joust, Robotron, Tempest, Asteroids, and Asteroids Deluxe among many others.

Your hinge is on the wrong side though :)

I don't know how I missed that in your pix nerdygrrl. You put the coin door on reversed. The lock hole goes on the right side and the hinge on the left.

Doh, I don't know how I didn't pick up on that. Even I know that the lock goes on the right. Thanks for looking out guys. This is exactly why you shouldn't let girls in.

Of course I just let an old atari cab walk out my door.

Trimline cabs are arguably the best-looking cabarets. Good job making this one look nice!
