Are the 1st version Taito cabinet stencils available anywhere? I am referring to what would have been used on a Stratovox/Polaris/Crazy Climber style cabinet with the large TAITO logo on the bottom and not the Jungle King style.

Thx

i've also been looking for those for quite a while now - without success!

hopefully i'll get a portable scanner soon and then i'll be able to scan my disassembled stratovox cab. brian from gamestencils.com has already said he could do stencils for us if he had a good template!

All you have to do is take a high quality picture of it and it can be very quickly vectorized and cut, no need to take it apart.

i was told that a high quality pic might not be good enough because of line distortion. the cab has already been disassembled and it wouldn't be a problem to take a nice straight picture of the side. i'll see what i can do!

Photos are OK to get the general idea of the art, but to truly get the dimensions and nuances of the art just right you need a scan. I know some people will say to just adjust the perspective and straighten it out but you still will have no idea just how thick a line is, exactly what is the cabinet outline? How sharp is that curve? you just won't know unless the image you start from is non distorted and in correct proportion.

agreed, the best and most accurate way is to scan, but in a pinch as you said, you could figure it out if you had someone take measurements from the lines and certain things in the corners, then adjust the perspective till those measurements are reached.

For instance a rareish game, say theres only 100 or 1000 of them made or something crazy, that would be an instance where even just a picture would be a blessing.

cool - i'd swear they werent there last time i looked.

trying to decide now whether to do the lunar rescue cab in that style or the other pale blue style with the dark blue rectangular patches.

I think the blue stencils would look sharp!

I have an original Crazy Climber with perfect sideart ...

What do we need to make this happen ... just a high res photo of the side?
