Taito Space Invaders Part II (cocktail) in a trimline cabinet...

I can't figure out how to get this 3 board set out of "cocktail" mode. I am putting it in a Taito Trimline cabinet. Doesn't look like there is a dip switch to do it. Is there a jumper or something?

I'm not the expert on this but for some reason I think they made board sets that were for the cocktail version and different boards for the upright. If I'm correct that means you could only make the cocktail work in an upright if you want a 1 player game. If you select a 2 player game you will always get a flipped screen. I may be incorrect though.

No... I would say you are probably right... but I hope not.
as for playing it as a 1 player game... that would work but the player 1 game is the upside down one.
:)
I don't really need it to work since I already have a working boardset. This was an extra I was testing.
There must be a wayto do it... the board sets look identical.

You can do a yoke swap.

No doubt... but I was just testing the boards in the cabinet. I have the original board set too and it works fine so I don't plan to do any monitor mods.

I was hoping there would be something on one of the PCBs or edge connector that I could manipulate.

Should be dip switches somewhere, I'm more familiar with the Midway ones where there's dipswitches.

There is one bank of dips on the sound PCB. None of those have to do with UR or Cocktail mode. There are no dips on either of the other 2 PCBs.

A riddle... to be sure.

No one else?

chances are its a taito 3 layer cocktail table space invaders board set....

it was only made for cocktail tables and not upright...

ps any chance of buying board off you ? i would obsolutely love to throw this into a cocktail table.. i been looking for a board set for yonks.

ps , are you referring to the blue taito space invaders upright ?

they were only ever made for the L shaped boards and not 3 layer.

it was midway that did 3 layer boards in the uprights :)

space invaders part 2 taito red cabinet is another story.

ah dezbaz is a awesome bloke.

i dont think we ever had the space invaders trimlines down here , i have never actually seen one lol.

seams to be plenty of blue taito SI , but the part 2 red ones here are rare as a needle in a haystack.

i shall pm you soon about the board :)

while im at it.. im looking for anyone who has a space invaders rodex , surely someone must have one.....

am trying to repair the board on mine and with no schematics.. and some ics unreadable.. its a lil tricky..

will happily do rare scans of the space invaders rodex instruction cards :)

Any 3-layer taito pcb set can be set for upright or cocktail mode, there is a trace to join or cut on the sound pcb, and dip switches to isolate or combine the 2 player controls...
