Recently picked up a non working Taito Space Invaders Cocktail, Japanese version. There is a toasted cap on the power supply. I've looked through all the schematics online but I cant seem to find the power supply schematics. I'm not familiar with this machine so I need to ask some questions. Taito seems to have put out several versions of this machine but I cant seem to nail down exactly which one this is. It's the three board version...I know that. It has a 13" B&W monitor with the color lens over top of it. The guy that I bought it from didn't have the manuals, keys or coin bucket. Basically my questions are this...in the back of the chute for the coin bucket there are 4 metal pins. Are the metal pins part of the interlock system? Do they all need to be pushed in to be able to turn on the game? Is the coin bucket metal that closed the circuit? Before I toasted the cap I tried pushing them all in and turned on the game, but nothing. I also checked all the fuses, they are all good.

I need the schematics to the power supply so I can replace the cap with the correct value. I looked at the schematics for the 3 board version but saw nothing for the power supply, am I missing it?

Please take a look at the pictures. I have a picture of the power supply and the location of the cap in question. I also included the coin bucket shoot with the pins at the back. Any jhelp on this would be appreciated.

Being a Taito cocktail, firstly I have to ask are you sure you're providing the right voltage? I would imagine it's either setup for 240 or 100v not 110/120v.
Secondly, that cap looks like it's just a bypass cap, probably blown from too much voltage.

As to thr coin bucket 'pins' - are there wires to them? If so, where do they go? If they are part of some kind of interlock, they'd have to go toward the PS, I'd think.

I followed the wires from the pins. It looks like they run to the credit board (D)? It's a little board the sits on top of the service button, tilt switch box in the front right corner by the coin door. It looks like they might work with something in the coin door? It's late, I will look again tomorrow.

The cap blew when I touched my red probe on two (crimped) brown wires that are I think are supposed to be wired to an optional 110 outlet next to the switch that switches between 110v and 120v. I remember seeing the outlet in one of the schematics but this machine doesn't have one wired up.

It has a 110v standard plug on it. The machine was supposedly used at the families home for some time. He said his Dad bought it years ago.

I believe someone in the last year or so did draw up the schematics for this along with a parts list. I'll see if I can dig it up.

My space invader's coin bucket has two pins at the back that plug into the chassis when inserted. They only power the coin counter. I have it removed so that I can use coins and just keep recycling the same coin. It works fine with the bucket removed.

Does anyone know whats up with the adapter on the "G" connector (see pic)? Is this some sort of factory revision? I've had no luck finding any reliable schematics for this cocktail. The cabinet and power supply that is. The power supply keeps blowing the 2amp fuse in the cab along as it's plugged in, but even after that I have most of the voltages at the boards. With the exception of the +18, which I'm not sure if it was even wired for, and the "POR" is at 1.65, so these boards aren't going to boot with this power supply. A schematic that matched my rig would sure be handy for installing a switcher. Any SI owners out there that have made the switch?

Hi Sirius,
As other members have said the pins are for the coin counter on the back of the coin box and it is not needed for the machine to work see the attached photo.

I have also attached a photo of my G connector also for a black and white space invaders with the same power supply. It does look to be different.

It looks like you might have a colour harness (space invaders part II)
Check the wire diagram for the part II and see if it is a match.
