I have a Taito Space Invaders Cocktail with Japanese writing on the control panel. When I bought it was only displaying garbage on the screen so I bought another board that I was told was working. I put the new board in the machine and I got different garbage on screen and could hear the UFO sound. I saw a toggle switch inside the cabinet and I clicked it to the other position. Then the screen came up looking normal but I can't get it to start playing a game it will either keep resetting or locks up. I realize that what I did was switched it from 110v to 120v. At 110v there is garbage and UFO sound and at 120v I get the good looking screen but lock ups and resetting problems.

Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Welcome to the world of owning a Taito Space Invaders table. They are notorious.

Have you tested the PS? Do you have any photos of the junk?

It could be a socketing issue, but most likely it is your PS.

Post some photos. I also highly recommend the Aussie Arcade forums, those guys are nuts for SI and whenever I have a problem with one of my Taitos I go over there first.

im going to test the power supply first and see what happens. Does anybody know if the default setting is 110v or 120v? Seems strange that there is even a switch for voltage.

I am not sure about the correct voltage setting on these. My Taito SI upright has the same switch, but it wasn't supposed to be sold in the states only the UK and Japan.

You should try tracking down Baz on here or Ataritoobin. Those guys are SI Jedis.

Mine is labeled 100 volts and 110 volts. I tried it both ways and saw no difference.

it will make no difference at 100 v or 110 volt

it sounds like you might have a faulty 8080 cpu.

getting garbage is actually a good thing and shows sign the board is partly working.
